Volunteer Job Descriptions

Hey Mitchell Families!

Our PTO is all about teamwork, making school events fun for our kids, and supporting our amazing teachers. We know life is busy, but volunteering with us is a great way to connect and make a real difference.

Check out some of the ways you can jump in:

  • Fun Run Committee: Love the Fun Run? Join the team that makes our biggest fundraiser happen on Friday, October 3, 2025! We’ll need help getting donations, spreading the word, and of course, cheering on our kids on the big day. Planning starts in May, with the main work happening between June and October.Fall Fest Committee: Fall Fest is a blast, and you can help make it happen on Friday, October 24, 2025! We’re looking for folks to help find vendors and organize volunteers for all the fun activities. Most of the planning happens in September and October. Our first planning meeting is Wednesday, September 24th at 7pm (meet.google.com/yvs-rfwd-nwb)
  • Martha’s Closet: Martha’s Closet is a wonderful resource in the nurse’s office that provides clean clothes and other supplies for those times when a student has a spill, gets muddy, or just needs a change of clothes. You can help by keeping it organized, sorted, and stocked with new or gently used items so students feel comfortable.
  • Grade Level Reps: Want to be in the know? As a Grade Level Rep, you’ll be the go-to person connecting your child’s grade with the PTO. You’ll share info from us with teachers and, just as importantly, bring teacher and grade-level needs back to the PTO so we can best support them.
  • Teacher Appreciation Committee: Let’s show our teachers some love! This team plans ways to celebrate our amazing staff with small events throughout the year and super special Teacher Appreciation Weeks in December and May. If you love planning parties and giving thanks, this is the committee for you!
  • Science Olympiad: Got a budding scientist? Help coach our Science Olympiad team! You’ll work with our student Olympiads once a week to get them ready for competition.
Practices to be determined. The event usually takes place in Spring (date not yet announced).
  • International Night Committee: International Night is one of our school’s favorite traditions, happening on Friday, April 17, 2026! Join the committee to help bring this celebration of our diverse community to life. We’ll need help contacting performers, creating flyers, and coordinating volunteers. Planning starts in February.
  • Ice Cream Social Committee: Help us end the school year with a sweet treat! The Ice Cream Social is on Friday, May 29, 2026. This team plans the event, gathers cool items for the silent auction and raffle, and organizes volunteers. We get started in January.
  • Movie Night Coordinator: Who doesn’t love a movie night? You can help plan our school movie nights by coordinating volunteers, organizing concessions like pizza and popcorn, and helping with setup and cleanup.
